This sigil takes two existing symbols and combines them to create a vehicle for connecting with Mercury. I use the word vehicle because this is a mystical operation that, at least in the beginning, involves elevating your consciousness or projecting your awareness towards the sphere of Mercury, rather than drawing the same down for magical work.
You can, of course, bring Mercurian forces back with you as you descend from the higher planes to the material world. This is a powerful way to initiate a planetary magic operation.
Initially, however, this sigil is about reaching out towards the power of Mercury. If you follow the Tree of Life this sigil can correspond to path 31 that bridges the gap between the Kingdom of Earth and the realm of mind ruled by Mercury.
- First draw the diamond shaped Ingwaz rune from the top down. Draw left or right at your preference.
- Then make the circle, vertical bar, horizontal bar, and finally crescent on top to create the sigil of Mercury.
- If possible use orange or purple as these correspond well to Mercury.
To put this sigil to work you can create a setting conducive to Mercury using any number of correspondences, from the colors orange and purple to burning Yarrow or Lavendar. Repeat the names of Mercurian spirits such as Tiriel, Kokaviel, Ophiel, Mediat, and so forth.
When you have raised some Mercurian energy about the place, gaze upon, and then into the sigil. After a moment close your eyes and using your third eye, project your vision and awareness into the sigil, entering its etheric double. Explore. 😉
