How to Cast a Spell
Page Topics:

This article focuses on the specific technique of incantation, or spell casting, but the substance herein can be easily extrapolated and applied to other magical operations as well. We are dealing with a subject that is at once a very simple and highly complex, which tends to result in lengthy, detailed content from this blogger.

Not today.

Below is the simplest, most streamlined explanation I can write on how you or anyone else can cast a spell, starting right now.

Even before casting any magic, you must have a strong desire and a clear intention for your preferred outcome.

This desire must be coupled with a very clear intention that frames your expected outcome of the magical work. “More money” is not a clear intent. It is a modest to moderate adjustment. “A lot more money” is a significant adjustment and yet still unclear in terms of intention. “$500 of new money” is an example of unambiguous, clarified intent or expectation.

Five Modes of Outcome

Please note the five modes of outcome or effect a magic spell or other magical operation can produce. There are:

  1. Creation (turning nothing into something)
  2. Transformation (turning something into something else)
  3. Preservation (maintaining a particular state or preventing change)
  4. Revelation (acquiring or transferring information)
  5. Communication (transfer of info and ideas between two or more entities)

Any goal you can come up with will fit into these modes. Manifestation is creation. Destruction is a form of transformation. Protection falls under preservation. All divination is revelation or communication. Spirit communion/evocation and sorcery are forms of communication. If it can be magically done it can be filed under one of these headings.

Seriously that is the first and last detour I will take you on. I thought it relevant.

Magical work initiates when you transform your intention to a vivid sensory experience. Visualize the outcome you seek. Do this in clear detail, and then add the other senses and the feelings of success/victory to create a lifelike experience of having what you want. The imagined moment will include not only a perfect picture of intent fulfilled, but also the sounds, sensations, smells, and tastes of that moment, all charged with the elation, relief, etc. you will feel in victory.

This process is called immersion.

Next, convert your desire into a very focused command to reality. As much as you want the thing, in this same measure do you wield authority and demand it be so.

From FULFILL MY DESIRE! you move to a certainty of belief in the inevitability of your chosen outcome. This commanding desire + belief in inevitability = Your Magical Will.

As you recite your spell direct your expectation of success through the vision of victory you have created.

Incantation

Put another way or viewed from another perspective this would be: The words of the spell, also called the incantation, are used to focus and deliver your will through the immersion experience you conjured.

Correspondences

Another part of the magical process is gathering and aligning the energies you will use to empower and coordinate your intentions with the creative powers of our multiverse. This is typically referred to as magical correspondence or the use of magical correspondences.

Examples of magical correspondences are elemental energies, planetary powers, and spiritual forces and the plants, animals, minerals, ideas, sounds, symbols, and other items or objects that carry the same charge as the elements, planets, and spirits they are linked to.

Correspondences are how you dial things in or align your willpower with the specific forces and energies that govern the area of life your magic shall affect. For example a love spell should involve the influence of Venus, and depending on our attitude or approach may include elemental fire or water.

If you want to win a hand of poker Mercury is the power that governs gambling, so you could opt to find and use correspondences of Mercury. An approach you could integrate also is the use of Saturnine correspondences, i.e. use the power of restriction and limitation to restrain the odds against you and the power of a bountiful harvest to rake in the pot.

Possibilities are limited only by your knowledge of magical correspondences and creativity in deploying them.

Release

At the end of magical work, we release all of our energy and send our intention to the causal realm. Thereafter we forget, and this is where many people fail.

By moving our conscious mind away from the work we performed, we allow our unconscious mind to interact with the subtle energies and spiritual forces needed to carry the magic through to manifestation. It is essential to let go and allow the higher parts of ourselves finish what we began.
